1. Who operates this website

DeviceDIY is a product of Xcel Rank Ltd. For website, privacy or content enquiries, contact hello@xcelrank.com.

2. Browser-based device checks

The tools use browser features to help you check cameras, microphones, speakers, keyboards, mice, displays, controllers and related inputs. Results reflect what the browser can observe or what you confirm manually. They are not hardware certifications, warranties, professional diagnostics or guarantees that a device will work in every application.

Some features depend on browser permissions, HTTPS, hardware support and operating-system settings. Follow the instructions on each tool page and use operating-system or manufacturer diagnostics when you need greater certainty.

3. Privacy and device permissions

Some tests request access to a camera or microphone only after you choose to start them. The testing scripts supplied with this website process live previews, microphone levels and optional local recording playback in your browser. Those scripts do not upload camera or microphone recordings to a DeviceDIY server.

Keyboard, mouse, gamepad and touchscreen inputs used by the tools are processed on the device for immediate feedback. The used-laptop checklist reflects checks that you mark yourself. You can revoke media permissions through your browser or device settings.

4. Website access data and your rights

Like most websites, the hosting provider may process technical access information such as IP addresses, page requests, browser details, timestamps and security logs to deliver and protect the service. The specific collection, retention and access arrangements depend on the live hosting configuration. Contact us for information about personal data processed in connection with this site.

Where UK data protection law applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, erasure, restriction or objection, depending on the circumstances. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

5. Cookies, analytics and third parties

The supplied website package does not include advertising or third-party analytics tracking scripts. Browser or hosting services may use essential technical storage to deliver features or security protection. If analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies are introduced, the live website's disclosures and consent controls must be updated before those services are enabled.

Links to other websites, including documentation resources, lead to services that have their own privacy practices.

6. Acceptable use and website terms

You may use DeviceDIY for lawful, personal or business troubleshooting. Do not misuse the service, attempt to interfere with it, introduce malicious code, or use it to test devices without appropriate permission. Content is provided for general information, and may change as browsers and devices evolve.

7. Accuracy and liability

We aim to keep the tests useful and explanations accurate, but a passing or failing browser test cannot establish the full condition of hardware, network connections or third-party applications. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website is provided without promises of uninterrupted availability or diagnostic accuracy. Nothing on this page limits rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Contact and updates

Questions about the website, privacy, errors or rights requests can be sent to hello@xcelrank.com. We may update this page when website functionality or processing changes.
